5 Healthy Ways to Jumpstart Your Days

How you start your morning is a critical part of how your entire day unfolds. It’s easy to develop habits that can actually be detrimental not only to your day but also to your overall health.

The good news is that a few small changes to your current routine, both at night and in the morning, can set you up for success. Building consistency in this area is a great way to start your day on the right foot.

Even before you make your coffee or tea, fill up a tall glass with water and drink it down. This helps wake up your brain, boost your metabolism and flush out toxins from your body. 

Try incorporating these five healthy habits into your mornings: 

  1. Swap out your morning joe for CBD.Many people like to immediately start the day off with caffeine for a quick jolt of energy, but a slower, more tranquil start may be a better way to go. Mood-boosting CBD products, such as breath-freshening CBD mints, are a great way to put your mind in a relaxed state and find clarity. 
  2. Envision your perfect day. Research shows that the process of visioning is a powerful tool for your mental mindset, and can even promote healthy aging. Starting your day off simply by thinking about how you want it to go can have a significant impact on your attitude and well-being. Lay in your bed, close your eyes and envision what your day could look like if you accomplished everything you wanted to do. Then, go make it happen!
  3. Drink a tall glass of water. After a full night’s sleep, you may wake up a little dehydrated. Hydration is a great way to refuel your brain and body for the day ahead. Even before you make your coffee or tea, fill up a tall glass with water and drink it down. This helps wake up your brain, boost your metabolism and flush out toxins from your body. 
  4. Put your phone down.You’ve probably heard of this one. In the evening, blue light from personal electronic devices can make it more difficult for your brain to calm down and for you to fall asleep, disrupting your natural circadian rhythm. In the morning, blue light can actually trigger anxiousness and a racing mind. High-intensity exposure to blue light can eventually be harmful to your eyes, which doesn’t sound like an ideal way to start your day. If you start your day immediately by being on your phone, you’re also taking time away from focused self-care, which will serve you better in the long run. 
  5. Eat a nutritious breakfast. Breakfast literally means “to break a fast,” and after a night of rest, your body needs a kickstart. Choosing a combination of foods like whole grains, healthy fats (e.g. avocado, nuts, seeds) and protein sources like eggs or tofu can deliver the energy your brain and body need to keep you going until your next meal. 
    With the above routine in place, you can get every day off to a successful start. You might even find yourself not hating the 6 am commute to work.
