Homemade popcorn is inexpensive, easy to prepare and much tastier and healthier than most store-bought varieties — particularly the microwaveable variety, which contain toxic chemicals. If you’ve never made your own popcorn, here’s an opportunity to try it with a new twist. Fresh popcorn can be air popped or cooked in oil and then topped with different seasonings for endless flavor options.
The popcorn in this recipe is topped with melted butter infused with CBD oil and a sweet and spicy seasoning mix made from brown sugar, chili powder, cinnamon, cumin and garlic powder. The recipe makes 8 cups of popcorn and each cup contains approximately 0.25 mL of CBD oil, or 6 mg CBD. It’s the perfect snack for your next movie and chill night!
Recipe:
(Makes 8 cups)
3 tbsp brown sugar
1½ tsp ground cinnamon
1½ tsp chili powder
½ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp ground cumin
½ tsp sea salt
¼ cup popcorn kernels or 8 cups of freshly air-popped popcorn
1 tbsp coconut oil (omit if using air-popped popcorn)
2 droppers Zebra CBD Unflavored Hemp Oil
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and sea salt. Set aside.
Melt coconut oil (if using kernels) in a large pot set over medium heat.
Test the oil’s heat by dropping one or two popcorn kernels into the oil and covering the pot. When they pop, add the rest of the kernels, cover the pot and toss to evenly coat in oil.
Keep pot over medium heat, giving it an occasional shake, until most of the kernels have popped.
Add CBD oil to melted butter and drizzle over popcorn, stirring to coat evenly. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the popcorn and stir again. Serve immediately.
